i'm inspired... if two of the busiest people i know, jesse and whitney, can find time for an art project we all can... i am loving this surreal self portrait.

one of our favorite photographers sarah yates shot two amazing engagement sessions recently and i wanted to show you guys one of them and tell you about the other. jesse & whit are shooting joycie & steve's wedding and i am playing records so it was such an awesome coincidence that they chose sarah to shoot their engagement session. i put a few of the images below, which were all shot in my neighborhood! you can see the rest here

sarah, you beat me to that californian sign... i have been trying to talk people into having portraits taken in front of it all year!

then there is austin & tori. i am playing records & sarah is shooting their wedding down in sayulita mexico in march and we are so excited about it! even bringing wifey and elodie for a little vacation! i also got a sneak peak at a 5DII video sarah shot of these guys that is so amazing but i guess you're gonna have to keep your eye on sarah's blog for that one...

well, just got back from shooting a wedding in nyc. always a good time, love that city.

i had a dream last night that i was at some nondescript concert and after the show was over a friend said hey i'm going backstage do you want to come? i said "why? who is back there?" he said very matter-of-factly "Bowie, Dylan, Serge Gainsbourg, and Mick Jagger..." ha! well, i followed him, and we came to a hallway with those old school dressing room doors with the stars on them and they were labeled "Mr. Dylan", "Mr. Bowie" and so on... my friend said "you have to pick one..." to which i replied "you have got to be kidding!?!" nope, he was serious... i was so pissed at first, but then i suddenly realized that i was about to meet one of the most important people in my life that i didn't already know! all of the sudden, somehow i found myself in 1970's david bowies' dressing room (in real life i would've strolled right over to dylan's door... but this was a dream) i was only allowed to (or only could) talk about fashion... sheesh, did i pick the right guy! dylan is almost as big of a fashion icon to me as a musical icon, but i have to admit that bowie's fashion is far more interesting, if not as personally compelling to me. he gave me several suits (again pretty good thing it wasn't little mr dyan or this really would have been a lesson in frustration) and talked with me about how to effortlessly rock formal attire without looking like you are trying too hard (i imagine mr. gainsbourg's insight on this topic would have been very illuminating as well!) and then he invited wifey and i to dinner at his house (iman was cooking!). CUT, CUT, CUT! cue reality... elodie is crying, 7am echo park bedroom, time to get up... back to work juke nobody is really that cool anymore.

what the hell happened to our rock stars? who are these jokers? as my dad would say... "they don't make em like they used to" well there is one group i was thinking of my buddy east side bride while making this post
