image of Nico from La Dolce Vita
When I got all set up for Emily & Neil's wedding I noticed the venue had a small security camera pointed right at the dancefloor! I thought it was odd, but I got started and forgot all about it. Then the party was off the hook and it got me thinking...
The following day Whitney and I invented a story for the venue manager about a piece of missing equipment and they actually gave us the footage! If it were better quality they could sell these... Hey wait a second. |
| this is just a teaser... the rest of the wedding will be up here, and there next week... See you in Palm Springs. |

People often ask me why i play vinyl and i have a million reasons but this video of 45 King slaying it with a couple of toy turntables and a radio shack mixer is the best one I've come up with in awhile.
|
| There is a John Lennon quote from a really good '71 Rolling Stone interview "I'm an artist, and if you give me a tuba, I'll bring you something out of it." I think this video punctuates that point... In that same interview Lennon is asked if he thinks he is a genius and he simply said "Yes" ha! amazing, who else could ever have gotten away with that? Dali maybe... Post Beatles John Lennon is as real as it gets. |

Just found this site on gorilla vs. bear and I am so happy! The tag line is one song. one take. one cab. The idea is this, get every great musician who happens to be in London for a show or for press or whatever (who presumably has to get across town anyway) to play acoustic guitar and sing a song in the cab on the way and make a video of it. AMAZING! I have watched the Grizzly Bear (below (Incredible) new album is t-minus 1 day away!) Elvis Perkins, Okkervill River, Phosphorescent, and Bon Iver episodes so far. I love to see artists play acoustic and have it be rough around the edges, people spend way too much time perfecting the soul out of things these days... I like my art a bit raw

| I know this might seem like a bit of a cliche but all of my best buddies in LA make movies ... Some for a living, some for art, some study it in school but all of them do, or have done, it. Well I am like a junkie when it comes to production...any kind of production! Give me the keys to a 24' truck and I will rally it! Need something moved? Got a forklift? DONE! Need a bunch of people to operate one piece of gear? Ha! I cannot get enough of it. Needless to say, I fell off the wagon last weekend... |
I'm on the right there (supervising). |
The project is a short entitled "Path Lights" which was written for the New Yorker by Tom Drury read more about that, and see a lot more great photos here. THIS is a recent-ish music video produced by the same crew for one of my favorite new-ish bands Phosphorescent I'm real proud of my good buddies who are all regular contributors to the flashdance between gigs. |
