about 15 years ago i met this good dude, which was my initial introduction to this weird little mystical town in rural iowa called fairfield. whit studied transcendental meditation at the Maharishi University of Management and when i met him he had three room mates who he had met there... so started this weird path that finally led to the images you see below.
in the last 15 years the VAST majority of my friends and colleagues have all either come from this town, or studied there. once you know one person from fairfield you can't escape them... i have met people from this little town all over the world! in addition to whitney, and a handful of friends that are somewhat unrelated, all of the sharkpig team is from there, which brings me to the reason for this party. jonathan (one half of sharkpig) & his lovely wife louise own this insane farm there (which they bought after they had their wedding) and last month they hosted their 5 year anniversary party there. people flocked from all over the world to attend. i packed up the fam and we went to visit fairfield for the first time and had an absolutely epic time. this party will live on in my mind for the rest of my life. pie judging contests, hayrides, country dancing with elodie, a sweaty ass danceparty at the end and elizabeth and i opening a top secret note from our doctor telling us the sex of our baby (which amazingly ended up being wrong!)
antony & the johnson's - knockin on heaven's door (which was recorded for the soundtrack to the biopic 'I'm Not There') but the original is from one of my favorite Dylan albums 'Pat Garret & Billy The Kid' which is the soundtrack from one of my favorite westerns of the same name directed by Sam Peckinpah with James Coburn, Kris Kristofferson and even a bit part by Mr. Dylan himself. anyway, enough about my geeky Dylan obsession. enjoy the tune.
you might have seen this video already but i wanted to share all of the details on this new project we've been working on with Talmadge from Pharmacie. it's call 5 songs 5 drinks.
for this installment i came up with 5 songs that had a drinky feel to them and gave them to Talmadge, he in turn created some amazing drinks! (and the sharkpig gents made a lovely video about it)
