Our Founder, Michael Antonia stays closely involved as the creative director and marketing expert, sometimes he even DJs! (but nothing like the old days). He still gets his music obsession fix working as music supervisor for Ace Hotel and making the monthly mixes that have become legendary over the years.

The Flashdance began on Michael's dining room table in 2008 during the worst recession in recorded history. He had a newly pregnant wife, and no money, which only spurred his impulse to turn ideas into action. Michael took the idiosyncrasies of his history -- DJing, producing shows, marketing, brand strategy -- and synthesized them into a revolutionary whole that would change the landscape of the entire wedding industry. 10 years later, The Flashdance is still one of the most highly regarded brands in the wedding and event industry globally. Our DJs continue to honor that legacy by creating truly unique work that is respected and beloved by the wedding industry, the DJ community, the corporate world, and our individual clients alike. This is a delicate balance to say the least!
