Matthew
Rubino
For more than 16 years, Los Angeles-native Matthew Rubino has been heavily involved in the city's DJ community with long-standing residencies at some of the city’s most successful venues including Cliftons, the Standard Downtown LA and Hotel Erwin in Venice where he has served as Music Director since 2011. He has also been programming the music at the Ace Hotel Los Angeles since 2016.
Growing up and getting booked to play within the vibrant and diverse DJ culture of Los Angeles, Matthew had the opportunity to learn from and perform alongside many world-renowned DJs and musical artists. He has performed for the likes of Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Debbie Harry (Blondie), Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Anne Hathaway, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lindsay Lohan, Ke$ha, David Spade, Fergie, The Game, The Los Angeles Dodgers, Terrell Owens, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Stealers, Alexandra von Furstenberg, Kathryn M. Ireland, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Don Bachardy, Bridget Marquardt and Ludo Lefebvre (to name a few)... Matthew's experience runs deep.
Part of his longevity and continued growth as a DJ is his ability to connect with diverse audiences while weaving various styles and genres together to enhance both the environment and energy of the crowd. Well seasoned in the wedding and private event world, he can seamlessly move from casual cocktail party, through dinner, into dance party madness, (but wait, there's more!) he can also act as MC for your event.
Matthew became a part of the Flashdance in 2014 and has since traveled the world over with the crew. With his upbeat-fun-vibrant energy, consistent output of high quality creative content and ability to always deliver what people have grown to love about The Flashdance DJ’s, he has become an asset on the team. In 2018 founder Michael Antonia asked Matthew to join him as co-owner of The Flashdance and we could not be more excited!
